A anemia ferropriva é uma anomalia freqüente na infância e decorrenteda deficiência de ferro, elemento essencial para a produção de hemoglobina.Manifesta-se clinicamente por palidez da pele, lábios e gengiva, queiliteangular, além de fadiga e fraqueza. O tratamento clínico é realizado com a administraçãode sulfato ferroso por via oral. Como efeito colateral, muitas vezespode ocorrer pigmentação negra nas superfícies dos dentes. A profilaxia dentalcom pasta profilática associada a pedra-pomes é indicada para a remoção dopigmento e, em alguns casos, a técnica de microabrasão pode ser necessária.
The iron-deficiency anemia is a frequentabnormality in childhood and it is resultingfrom a deficiency of iron, essential element for theproduction of hemoglobin. Clinically it is manifestedby paleness of the skin, lips and gums, angularcheilitis, as well as fatigue and weakness. Clinicaltreatment is prescribed, the medication to be takenorally is a substance that contains ferrous sulfate.Side effects occur often, one of them is a black orbrown pigmentation on the surface of the teeth.The dental prophylaxis with prophylactic pasteassociated with pumice stone is indicated for theremoval of such pigmentation, and in some casesthe technique of microabrasion may be needed.
